Public keys

The Public keys are the user SSH fingerprints. They are a secure way to connect to a remote system via the SSH protocol. The SSH fingerprints are bound to a specific account and include a public and a private key which are files normally stored within your $HOME/.ssh directory. Public keys normally has a .pub extension. Accounts on different systems have different fingerprints. WAS uses these keywords as an easy way to identify and authenticate a user who want to access and download the WEAVE data via the rsync protocol.
It is mandatory, before executing a rsync command on WAS, to upload the user public key.
To upload the public key, it is necessary to paste the file content into the upload section. Entering the following command should print your key.
bash
cat $HOME/.ssh/id_rsa.pubFor security reasons, the user can revoke at any time a particular public key. This will inhibit the access to the user owning that particular key.
Special permissions
Some users may have special data-access permissions based on their role or involvement in WEAVE.
- Engineering user: can use engineering User Interface options to search for and display any RAW files from the WEAVE instrument.
- ING Staff: can access all data without survey restrictions (except for data proprietary to external surveys).
- CDP Producer: can submit files to the WEAVE Archive System.
Data policy

This section lists surveys and Open-Time programs to which you have been granted access.
We recommend that you consult this section if you detect any problems when trying to access WEAVE data.
- WEAVE: this survey belongs to the WEAVE Consortium. Access to one of the WEAVE surveys via a membership of one of the WEAVE science teams will also give you access to data from the rest of the WEAVE surveys, except for any proprietary data from external surveys, whose access rights are determined by a specific Memorandum of Understanding.
- Shared to Consortium: Open-Time proposals for which the WEAVE Consortium has access to data.
- Shared catalogues: can access catalogues of other specific surveys (or Open-Time proposals) listed under this field.
- Shared proprietary catalogues: same as Shared catalogues but with access to private keywords.
- Restrictions: users belonging to this survey have a level of data access restriction set by one or more factors. This could be due to the user being an External Collaborator of a specific WEAVE science team, or being a member of an external (i.e. non-WEAVE) survey and is permitted access to non-public WEAVE data through a Memorandum of Understanding.
